Nisolo launches the Sustainability Facts Label

Ethical fashion brand Nisolo has recently launched the Sustainability Facts Label that allows consumers to check the impact each product has on the planet and on the people who manufacture it. Nisolo is a Certified B Corporation that is Climate Neutral Certified and puts people and the planet at the core of their company’s responsibilities. The launch of Sustainability Facts Label has been a natural next step towards a better and more transparent way of doing fashion. Leveraging the research of sustainability experts around the world, Nisolo created this label to empower consumers to make better choices and to invite brands to strengthen their approach to sustainability.

What is in the label

The Sustainability Facts Label discloses product’s impact on People and Planet across 10 different categories backed by 200 different public-facing data points and is set to be the most comprehensive yet digestible evaluation tool the fashion industry has seen to date.

Nisolo’s Sustainability Facts Label release also includes the open-source methodology the company developed to help other fashion brands rapidly accelerate increased transparency in the industry. While Nisolo recognizes this label is not perfect, it’s far better than any current level of consistent transparency available to consumers today. Patrick Woodyard, Nisolo's founder and CEO, said that while far from ideal, their objective is that the breadth, depth, and simplicity of the Sustainability Facts Label becomes the bare minimum for sustainability and the floor for future labels to be built upon.

Each Nisolo product will include the Nisolo Sustainability Facts Label. Each label includes a QR code that, when scanned, provides access to all 200 data points detailing the product's performance for people and the environment. When shopping online, people can look at the product’s sustainability label just as we would regular product descriptions. This level of transparency will help customers better understand the journey their clothes went on before coming to the store as well as their impact on the environment.
